Taste 8 superb South African wines for R80.00 at over a dozen different venues on and around the Vaal River area. Take home your favourite wines as all wines on the Vaal Wine Route will be on sale at cost +10% (cheaper than cellar door prices).

No entry fee – simply pay the tasting fee at the Venues of your choice. Please note that certain Venues have different trading and kitchen hours. The last table booking for wine tasting is 17h00 as the wine tasting experience is 1 hour.

The Vaal Wine Route Story …
Start your Vaal Wine Route journey with a BANG at The Vaal Wine Expo hosted at Stonehaven on Vaal on the 1st of June to start the Winter Season!
The Vaal Wine Route turns 22 this year.
The Vaal Wine Route runs every Saturday, Sunday and on Public Holidays too from the 7th of June until the 27th of July 2025
Wine tastings run from 12 midday to 6pm (last table booking is at 5pm) and is hosted at various venues on and around the Vaal River area. The 8-week Vaal River Meander Wine Route is a very well-priced wine treat to beat the winter blues, as well as being able to do this at a quirky variation of different Venues on or around the banks of the Vaal River.

Gather friends and family – come on over for a weekend of wine tasting fun! There are many accommodation options to choose from as well as fun winter activities to enjoy such as a Cruising Wine Tasting Luncheon aboard a luxurious Cruiser; Special Overnight Weekend Breaks; spend a weekend aboard a House Boat as you throw anchor and moor at the different venues along the Vaal River for wine tasting; spend the weekend at a Lodge or Hotel along the Vaal while you enjoy the wine and food pairing by water taxi or self-drive or enjoy special spa treatments packages put on to celebrate this winter treat.
